This bespoke table mock-up, designed for our client’s event earlier this year, celebrates the season’s bounty with rich, vibrant floral textures, in shades of orange, contrasted with manipulated anthurium blooms in gilded tones of gold, bronze and copper, elegant marble, and nude terracotta.
We accented the crockery with custom-designed paper placemats using David as inspiration.
Every detail, from the gilded accents to the sculptural centrepieces, is crafted to evoke the timeless opulence, for their guests.

Preparing Some of My Beds for Dahlias
There’s nothing better than getting my hands dirty and working in the garden! As an urban cut flower grower with dreams of blooming into something bigger, I’m excited to share how I prepare some of my planting beds for beautiful, healthy dahlias.
First, I remove 150-200 mm of soil from the bed, add natural inputs like grass clippings, and then mix in kraal manure, bonemeal, worm castings, and alfalfa pellets. After enriching the bed with well-draining soil, I top it off with barley straw for mulch – perfect for retaining moisture and nurturing the soil biome.
This is year 4 of my cut flower journey, and I’m learning more every season about what works. Gardening is an art and a science, and healthy soil is the key to vibrant, happy blooms. Join me as I share some tips, lessons learned, and how small spaces can make a big impact!

Dearest Erique, once again we could rely on you to create another gorgeous event for our family, and for Neil’s 70th birthday. Our front lawn in Melrose Estate once again was transformed into a space where friends and family came together for a luncheon with exquisite food, (as per your recommendation) via Olives and Plates, your décor, table setting, floral designs for the tables and our various space, the entertainment and of course your idea of having a bespoke gin bar from Thrust just made the luncheon and afternoon a perfect celebration. You worked with our theme, created a colour palette, and helped me finetune the menu from canapes to sit-down lunch, later a cheese board and topping it off with a birthday cake in Neil's favourite taste profile (Carrot Cake) supplied by Olives and Plates. As always you made sure everything was in place and on time. You wrangled all the vendors and added your decorative ambience perfectly suited to the occasion and setting. As always, our guests enjoyed themselves and had much to say about the event and their enjoyment. This is your 3rd event for us (my 60th, Bianca’s and Oliver’s engagement party and now Neil’s 70th) – Thank You, each of these has been amazing!
